Celeste Classic is a wad easier with a Portal gun
Bringing Portal vein's handheld wormhole device into Celeste might make platforming a breeze, but thither's something altogether to a greater extent sinister about this Aperture-sponsored mountain hike.
A self-described "Portal demake covert as a Celeste Classic modernistic", Caroline reworks the latter's platforming puzzles into a series of Portal-dash spatial challenges. Currently on tap for free on Scratch, Caroline offers a salutary dozen more or less stages to push through—and while they're a bit on the tardily side, it's captivating to see Celeste used as a vessel to demake Valve's puzzler.
Modder Meep hasn't just brought over Portal's physics puzzles, mind. Valve's humour carries over through and through short exam announcements. It's lacking something without Ellen McLain's voice acting, but Meep for the most part hits the right balance of uninventive, yet queerly malicious piece of writing.
This isn't Portal's prototypic 2D demake, mind. The wildly popular Portal: The Flash Version began ontogenesis shortly after Portal's announcement—and piece that demake might've been lost with the death of Adobe New York minute at the end of 2020, an archived version is to the full playable all over happening the Internet Archive's Flash Library.
Celeste Classical creator Maddy Thorson also revisited the PICO-8 original with a sequel earlier this year. Free followup Lani's Trek replaces the original's air-dashing with a grappling bait, chess opening up a whole new avenue of hard-core platforming challenges.
